21 The Three Wise Men (Matthew 2)

Long ago, in a far-off land, there lived three wise and learned men known as the Three Wise Men. Each of them came from a different place: Gaspar from Asia, Melchior from Europe, and Balthasar from Africa. They were respected for their wisdom and knowledge of the stars.

One night, as they were observing the sky, the Three Wise Men noticed something amazing: a bright and special star they had never seen before. This star, later known as the "Star of Bethlehem," filled them with excitement and wonder.

The Three Wise Men believed that this special star held deep significance and decided to follow its glow. They loaded their camels with precious gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and set out on a long journey westward, following the star.

After a long and exhausting journey, the Three Wise Men finally arrived in Jerusalem, the capital of Judea. They went to the palace of King Herod and asked him, "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star in the sky and have come to worship him."

King Herod was alarmed to hear this, as he feared losing his throne to a new king. He asked the Three Wise Men to inform him once they found the child so that he too could worship him, but his true intention was to harm the child.

The Three Wise Men continued their journey, following the star, which led them to Bethlehem. When they arrived at the small town, the star stopped over a humble stable. The Three Wise Men entered the stable and found the child Jesus, along with his mother Mary and his father Joseph.

Filled with joy and reverence, the Three Wise Men presented their gifts to the child Jesus: gold, as a symbol of his royalty; frankincense, as a symbol of his divinity; and myrrh, as a symbol of his humanity and sacrifice.

After worshiping the child Jesus, the Three Wise Men had a dream in which God warned them not to return to see King Herod, as he had ill intentions. So, instead of going back to Jerusalem, they embarked on a different journey back to their countries, avoiding any danger.
